Md. Shamsul Arefin’s journey is a powerful narrative of ambition, perseverance, and a steadfast dedication to creating a meaningful impact in both the business and philanthropic worlds. From his modest beginnings, Arefin has risen to become a multifaceted entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cultural advocate, blending professional success with personal fulfillment.

Arefin is the owner and operator of a thriving 17-acre property in Cornwall, UK, which includes a hotel, bar, restaurant, and caravan park. Under his leadership, the venture has grown into a cornerstone of hospitality in the region, drawing visitors from far and wide and contributing significantly to the local economy. His exceptional ability to combine service excellence with business growth has made his hospitality enterprise a model of success in the UK.

In addition to his achievements in the hospitality industry, Arefin is the founder and driving force behind the Skilled Work World Group. This global initiative, with offices in London, Warsaw, Dubai, and Dhaka, specializes in training, testing, and recruiting skilled workers. Through his efforts, Arefin has placed over 100 professionals in key roles across multiple industries, strengthening communities in the West and contributing to the Bangladeshi economy through remittances. His organization has become a bridge connecting talent with opportunity, fostering a dynamic international network of professionals.

Arefin’s entrepreneurial spirit extends beyond business ventures. In 2007, he founded a private college in London, where he served as Director and Principal for nearly a decade. During his tenure, Arefin played a crucial role in nurturing over 15 startups, guiding young entrepreneurs and transforming their ideas into successful businesses. His belief in the transformative power of education and mentorship has made a lasting impact on the students and entrepreneurs he has mentored.

Philanthropy is a central pillar of Arefin’s life. In his home region of Jhalakathi, Bangladesh, he founded a self-funded charity that empowers underprivileged women through training programs. Over the past three years, the charity has provided women with the tools, resources, and capital they need to become self-reliant entrepreneurs. Ten batches of women have completed the program, launching their own businesses and changing their lives in the process. This initiative reflects Arefin’s unwavering commitment to social impact and his belief in the power of education to transform lives.

Arefin’s academic background is just as impressive as his professional achievements. He holds a Doctorate of Professional Studies, an MBA in International Business, a BBA in Marketing, and a diploma in Commerce and Business Administration. A part-qualified ACCA professional, Arefin’s commitment to lifelong learning and professional development has been a guiding force throughout his career.

In addition to his business and philanthropic pursuits, Arefin is a published poet, with four of his books showcased at the Bangla Academy Book Fair. His passion for culture is evident in his active participation in cultural initiatives, such as leading debating clubs at the University of Dhaka and collaborating with the UK Udichi. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Arefin hosted 70 episodes of a Business Talk program, engaging with government officials, business leaders, and community activists to discuss vital issues. His work reached millions through the BBCCI’s social media platforms.

Arefin maintains a vast and influential network, with strong ties to the Bangladesh Government, alumni from prominent universities, and key figures in the business and cultural sectors. These relationships are invaluable as he continues to bridge communities and foster collaboration, particularly through the British Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (BBCCI).

An avid sports enthusiast and world traveler, Arefin has explored over 60 countries and 150 cities, further enriching his perspective and understanding of the world. Married for over two decades and a proud father, he finds joy in balancing his professional accomplishments with his personal life, continuing to inspire those around him through his vision, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
